real life

These stories never seem so real until they happen to your family.

Sacramento Bee News Paper reports...
Two women -- one of them the mother of two small children -- were found dead in a south Sacramento home early Tuesday, Sacramento County's first homicides of the new year.
The victims were a 19-year-old woman and her 49-year-old mother.
Jose Barrera, who fathered a child with the younger woman, was arrested on suspicion of killing both women. When deputies went inside the home, they found a 4-year-old girl and an infant boy, both of whom were unharmed. Both were children of the 19-year-old mother, but only the infant was fathered by the suspect.
Deputies also found the 16-year-old brother and son of the victims, who said he was asleep during the attacks. He was detained and questioned by deputies, but he is not a suspect, Curran said.
Deputies found the bodies of the two women in a rear bedroom, he said. It appears the victims had been bludgeoned to death, Curran said. Deputies recovered a weapon, but gave no details about it.
No motive has been determined.
Deputies had been called in August to the home in a neighborhood of modest ranch houses southwest of the intersection of 47th Avenue and Stockton Boulevard, Curran said.
At the time, the 19-year-old woman had asked to have Barrera removed, but he had apparently since gained permission to visit his son, Curran said.

Of course have to include Wrigley in here somewhere. Hi! Scoreboard workers. This is taken from my seat behind homeplate, just up the first baseline a bit in the upper deck reserved seats.

This is my favorite picture that i took this year, sans the nephews. The moon rising over Stormy Lake this fall. I used a regular old non-digital SLR camera.

Happy New Year!

are you a new year's resolution person? Every year at this time it's all about new year's resolutions. I gave up on them a few years ago. why save it for one time a year? if you really need to do something that important why wait for the new year to begin? why not start now? I do like to procrastinate so it's been a struggle for me to change. however I do believe this is working for me. I feel like I've gotten a jump start on things i wanted to accomplish in 2007. So cave into advertising... Just do it! thanks Nike.

Anticipate

to look forward to; expect... basically waiting for something. Have you ever thought about how much of our lives we are waiting for something? Waiting for a bus, waiting for a light to change, waiting for supper to be cooked, waiting for a bill to arrive in the mail, waiting for a card or letter from a friend, waiting for a cup of coffee in a coffee house, waiting for an engagement to be announced, waiting for a phone call whether it's someone you talk to every day or someone you've never spoken to before... it's all waiting and who really likes to wait? This Christmas season i did feel like i experienced advent in a whole new way. Not only was i waiting to celebrate the birth of Christ, I was waiting for my new nephew to be born. Even though there's a due date you really don't know when he's actually going to come. Fortunately for us and my sister, he arrived two days early. Oh the joy! oh the excitement when he finally came. A little less fanfare than angels singing but he made our hearts sing for joy.
The season of waiting, the season of advent, the counting down for the birth of a baby.
Remember in all the waiting and anticipation when it finally comes enjoy the moment, remember it, and keep it with you.
