Tickets

I got my tickets. Took the day off Monday and waited until for the doorbell. I felt very trapped. The "window" of time was before 7:00 pm. yah... 7:00 pm. They could have arrived as early as 8:00 am. That's an 11 hours "window". Fortunately the bell rang about 1:00. I ran down and was ready to hug the delivery guy, until he started complaining about this time of the year and delivering all the tickets with signature required. thanks for ruining my excitement. I did rip into the package as soon as i got on the elevator... I have my tickets the season can begin.

Tickets

Ah! it's that time of the year... waiting for my season tickets. My first year my tickets arrived nice and neatly at my apartment. Since then it's gone downhill. a true adventure every year.
The worst was two years ago. On the third day of the delivery attempt i was finally able to leave work early in hope that i would be home... nope. they delivered the package earlier than indicated on the door tag from the day before. I was not happy. So i called FedEx and asked them how long would they hold the package at the distribution center. Five days. I looked at my schedule, it didn't look good. I went on-line to check how to bus up there - not an option. So i re-arranged somethings call my parents about a car and on the fourth day i drove up there. My turn was called and i presented my id and door tag only to find out that they were no longer there. The computer said they were shipped back to the sender that morning. I mentioned to the lady when i called to inquire I was told five days. She so nicely responded it's three days, you were told wrong. So I had to sit and wait for my ticket rep from Wrigley to call notifying me that my tickets were at Wrigley. I picked them up the day before opening day. Did not enjoy that. So i was hoping this year was going to be better. This year i was going to take a half day to sit at home and wait for my tickets... i'm still waiting for that to happen.

February

Where did it go? It was a crazy month, not only for work but also weather wise. We had that freezing spell, then it warmed up, rained, then more snow, and now we're back to rain. Chicago is definitely living up to it's "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes."
Work has been crazy with the roll out of our new applicant tracking system at work. VE. very exciting. of course there were bugs, what's a new system without a bunch of bugs in it, and a lot of headaches. Plus the questions, getting caught up, continuing to learn the new system and keep up with the regular work... or at least we were trying to keep up with the regular work. it was a challenge. Now the worst of it is over and we are happily in the new system.
I got a new camera during all this craziness but haven't had time to play with it. Nikon D50. I'm back into the digital age. Yeah! don't worry, I will be adding pictures shortly.

winter blues

OK to help combat some of the chill in the air, here's a picture from my trip to Cincinnati last year. hopefully it will encourage warm thoughts.

sublimation

sublimation - to cause to pass directly from the solid to the vapor state and condense back to solid form. i believe that's the correct spelling for what was happening to Lake Michigan on Monday. According to Tom Skilling, WGN's weatherman, the mist over the lake was really water crystals. it's related to evaporation but because of the extreme cold the evaporation was freezing. Very Cool.

This is not referring to the predicted point spread for the underdog Bears in the superbowl. On a side note they did lose by 12 points. No this was the temperature when I woke up this morning. -7 Degrees Fahrenheit, not Celsius. it's like -21 Celsius. yuck! The wind is what makes it brutal. However there is one aspect of this weather that i like... lake Michigan. I love it when Lake Michigan freezes. This morning it was amazing. Where the lake was open it was steaming. Like a heavy mist just hanging over the lake. Add in the sun rising over it and making the ice shine. Amazing! I wish i had a camera.
