Excitement

The Cubs are having a competition for a fan to sing the 7th inning stretch at a game in September. What do I have to lose? entering is easy, fill-in a few blanks, write a couple sentences about being a Cubs' fan, and hit the submit button. Easy. So what happens when you actually get chosen? Well after you pick your jaw off the ground you get excited and then nervous. Friday I got an e-mail from the Cubs saying congratulations you have been chosen to audition for the singing of the 7th inning stretch. Please arrive at Wrigley field promptly at 8:00 for a 9:00 audition. Whoa! what? yup! This Friday at 9:00 I will be singing "Take me out to the ballgame" in front of a panel of judges. There are two days of auditions. Ten people will be chosen from everyone who auditions. They will be video taped and put on the web-site for all to vote. The winner will sing the 7th inning stretch in September. How cool will that be?

Summer fun...

Ok more summer fun from the 4th of July up north.

Picking blueberries. Although if you want to bake a pie, don't take this one along with you. Everything he picks goes straight into the mouth. :)

Fuji Island

The new fun thing of the summer is the Fuji Island. It has something for all ages. It's wonderful. it floats. it has a slide. it has cup holders. it has a meshy area, so you can sit in a couple inches of water. it has everything... two minutes after it was in the water Anders is already going down the slide.

What a wonderful vacation in the great northwoods. I could have stayed the entire month. One amazing sign of nature is this rare Golden Eagle that was perched up in a tree on the lake front. We sat and watched him for almost 90 minutes. It was amazing to watch him take off, he was huge. We have Bald Eagles that visit us often so eagles are not strangers to us. It was nice to see a different breed that we didn't know was in the area. Look real close and you can see one golden toe curled around the branch.

Midsommar

Ah! Midsommar. what fun? Celebrating the longest day of the year. Grab a partner and head for the nearest maypole.

yes. everyone must rehearse. walk up the aisle, walk down the aisle, stand and turn, and back down the aisle. it's complicated stuff... wink, wink.

even the little bell ringers, who were going to announce the beginning of the service made a practice run. this is Laura taking her turn. so cute. The dinner was nice, at Tre Kronor of course. A few of us stopped off at the Grafton for a wind-down drink before turning in for the evening.
